Downtown Canandaigua offers a walking tour of holiday decorated doors from merchants for the season.
The next time you’re off to Canandaigua, make sure you take a stroll and visit some of the merchants that are participating in the “Doors of Canandaigua”, a promotion that is getting everyone ready for the holidays. The event was created by merchants and businesses to let their creativity flow, and produce something that visitors and residents of the city to admire. The participants are hoping this will become an annual tradition, and can give consumers ideas on how they can decorate their own doors, or inspire everyone to get into the spirit.
Doors of Canandaigua is part of their Christmas in Canandaigua Promotion
The modern Christmas custom of decorating doors is borrowed from the ancient Roman’s New Year’s celebration ways of wishing good health. “Decorating doors are so festive and inviting,” Nicole Mahoney, marketing and events coordinator for the Canandaigua BID says. “It gets everyone in the mood for the season, and it’s a great way to welcome people to our street.”
The Doors of Canandaigua is just one of the promotions from their “Christmas in Canandaigua” theme, which also includes more holiday oriented promotions. The Doors of Canandaigua promotion runs from November 13th until Christmas.
