On Sept 11, 2010, the city of Canandaigua in collaboration with the Canandaigua Fire Department, Canandaigua Ambulance, Canandaigua Police Department, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Canandaigua American Legion and many other agencies will be continuing the tradition of the Patriot Procession to honor those who gave all, stepped up, and continue to support the USA since the events on 9/11/01.

Some changes to this year’s ceremony will be a morning flag raising involving local firefighter, EMS, law enforcement, and military beginning at 8:30AM at the Commons in Canandaigua. The 9/11 memorial flag will be raised at 8:46AM the time the first plane crashed.

The 9th Annual Patriot Procession will begin from Ontario St at 7:00PM and will continue north on Main St and end at the Canandaigua American Legion where all are welcome to participate in the candle light vigil.

The planning committee would like to remind all residents and visitors to please be courteous as the procession of emergency vehicles heads down Main St toward their final destination of the American Legion. The following streets will be controlled by volunteer Fire Police Officers, Gibson, Ft Hill, Wilcox, Buffalo, Howell and Rt 332 in front of the American Legion to Pudgies Pizza.

We encourage all grateful Americans to line the streets and show all of our first responders how grateful you are and to honor the memory of those true heroes on 9/11/01 and beyond.
