Soul Juicin Turns to Crowdfunding to Expand Their Growing Business
Posted on Sep 3, 2015
Soul Juicin already opened to great support from the community, serving up 100% raw, cold press juices from the Finger Lakes, but is now using IndieGogo as their crowdfunding tool to expand their customer base and motivate others toward a healthier lifestyle.
Juicin has become quite popular with the health conscious consumer. Since ninety-five percent of the vitamins and enzymes the body needs can be found in the juice of raw fruits and vegetables. Some of the benefits of drinking these juices include weight loss, increased energy, and building your immune system. Studies show that natural plant-based vitamins and minerals are more easily absorbed by the body, making them more effective than supplements. Soul Juicin purchases seasonal produce from local farmers in the Finger Lakes region to provide the freshest juices available.
The business, which is located in Victor, NY, recently opened to great support from the area. “We are serving a much needed niche in the community,” owner Lynne Stewart said. “Being active and making our juices more available to others is now our goal.” Lynne is aware how much obesity and other illnesses are due to lack of nutrition and vitamins, and lack of active lifestyle.
Since Soul Juicin’s mission is to inform, educate, and serve nutrition to anyone seeking to improve their health, they are turning to crowdfunding to help accomplish this mission. Their goal is to reach $30,000 in 30 days with an IndieGogo fundraiser at: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/help-soul-juicin-grow-to-the-next-level#/story
The goal, once accomplished, will help fund:
- A juice truck for taking the business on the road
- Coolers (to keep juices fresh)
- Supplies, such as labeling materials, and packaging
- Festival and/or event fees (some would be school programs, sports events, plus 5Ks, marathons, and health fairs)
Some of Soul Juicin’s best sellers include:
Popeye’s Spinach, their best selling juice, which is a powerhouse of vitamins and minerals.
Beet-ya (a blend with beet juice, which is great for blood, the liver, and energy.
The Bomb, which is a blend of apple, carrot, and other juices, works wonderfully for the digestion and immune system. This juice is popular with people fighting cancer, the carrots and ginger takes away metallic taste from chemotherapy.
La La’s Lemonade, which includes apples and lemons, is a great source of vitamin C, but is also great for inflammation, heart disease and cancer.
The cost is $4.50 for an 8 oz container or $8.00 for a 16oz. Their popular 6pk, which can be assorted, sells for $48.
For Lynne Stewart, it more than a passion, it is a personal mission. In 2014 she lost her brother, Rick Stewart, a nationally published sports photographer. Rick had died suddenly through complications of poor health, including being morbidly obese. Lynne, a stress eater, made a vow that she wouldn’t let herself get like Rick and discovered the health benefits of juicing. She is using her background in marketing and business to help her cause to spread the word and motivate others to a healthier lifestyle. She named the business Soul Juicin as a tribute to her brother Rick because he had a big heart and a big soul.
Some of the places you can already find Soul Juicin include local farmer’s markets, such as the Victor’s Farmer’s market on Wednesdays 3-7 pm, Thompson Hospital Market on Mondays 3-4:30pm, and Casa Larga on Sundays 10am-2 pm.
